The Versatility of the Kelly Danse: A Paris Fashion Week Revelation

The Paris Fashion Week Experience with the Kelly Danse

During my recent adventures at Paris Fashion Week, I made a conscious decision to bring just two bags: the newly unveiled Bolide on Wheels and the ombré Kelly Danse. While both bags had their moments, it was the Kelly Danse that truly stole the spotlight, proving to be the ideal companion for every occasion. This trip also marked the debut of my ombré lizard Kelly Danse, and what better place to showcase it than at the Hermès Spring Summer 2024 runway show?

The Kelly Danse: A Versatile Companion

From the moment I began using the Kelly Danse, it quickly became my go-to accessory. Whether attending the Hermès show, visiting presentations, or dining out, the bag’s neutral ombré lizard skin made it incredibly versatile, effortlessly complementing every outfit. Its adaptability was impressive, easily transitioning from a crossbody to a shoulder bag, and even a clutch, depending on the occasion. Although I didn’t use it as a backpack or belt bag during this trip, the Kelly Danse’s flexibility remained a highlight.

Beyond the Runway: The Kelly Danse in Action

While the Bolide on Wheels made its appearance at the Hermès after-party and during a visit to the atelier in Pantin, the Kelly Danse was my constant companion throughout the rest of the trip. Its practicality, combined with its elegant design, made it an indispensable part of my Paris Fashion Week experience.

A Resurgence of the Kelly Danse

Could the recent resurgence in the production of the Kelly Danse signal a renewed interest in this versatile style? With special editions, exotic variations, and eye-catching designs like the fringe version, it’s no surprise that the Kelly Danse is making a stylish comeback. The bag’s popularity has undoubtedly grown, and Hermès seems to be responding by expanding its workshop to produce more of these elegant pieces.

Is the Kelly Danse the New Mini Kelly?

If you’ve been dreaming of owning a Mini Kelly, it might be time to shift your focus to another gem in the Hermès lineup: the Kelly Danse. As one of the most versatile Kelly styles, the Kelly Danse offers functionality and elegance in one package. After all, the French word “danse” translates to “dance” in English, and this bag truly lives up to its name, allowing you to move effortlessly from one event to another.

The History and Features of the Kelly Danse

Originally designed by Jean-Paul Gaultier in 2008, the Kelly Danse was produced until about 2013. However, Hermès reintroduced it in 2019 as the Kelly Danse II, keeping the same dimensions of 6.6” x 8.6” x 2.5”. Available in swift, evercolor, and exotic skins, the bag features two D-rings on the back, a 62.4” strap, and the iconic Kelly touret closure.

Practicality Meets Elegance

The Kelly Danse offers ample space for your essentials, including your cell phone and lipstick, making it perfect for those on the go. With a few adjustments, the bag can be carried as a backpack, clutch, shoulder bag, crossbody, or belt bag, demonstrating its unmatched versatility. However, it’s worth noting that the bag’s compact size means it’s not suitable for carrying larger items, like books, in backpack mode.

Expanding Production to Meet Demand

As the popularity of the Kelly Danse continues to rise, Hermès has announced plans to expand its workshop to meet the growing demand for this versatile bag. Whether you’re a longtime fan or new to the Hermès family, the Kelly Danse is undoubtedly a piece worth considering for your collection.
