The animal kingdom took center stage in Louis Vuitton’s Pre-Fall 2024 collection, brought to life through a whimsical collaboration with artist Sun Yitian. This unique partnership infused the collection with a playful spirit, as a variety of animal motifs graced the runway. The collection featured everything from animal-adorned SLGs to handbags and even luggage, showcasing the duck, dalmatian, zebra, leopard, and rabbit across a range of Louis Vuitton’s most iconic bag styles, including the classic Neverfull, Pochette Metis, Square Trunk, Alma, and the OnTheGo Tote.
The highly anticipated Animal collection is set to launch on May 17, alongside the rest of the Pre-Fall 2024 collection. With its limited-edition status and the unique artistic flair of Sun Yitian, these pieces are expected to be a hit among Louis Vuitton enthusiasts. The collaboration has brought a new level of creativity to Louis Vuitton’s offerings, blending high fashion with a touch of playful whimsy.
Following the bold preview of the Sun Yitian x Louis Vuitton collection, the runway transitioned seamlessly into Nicolas Ghesquière’s sculptural collection. Here, Louis Vuitton presented a mix of old favorites and new additions in its Pre-Fall 2024 lineup. One of the standout transformations was the Petite Malle, which received a whimsical makeover in collaboration with Sun Yitian. Crafted in glossy calfskin and adorned with puffy leather trim, this version of the Petite Malle features an inflatable-inspired aesthetic in vibrant shades of yellow, orange, and blue, radiating a child-like charm.
The Side Trunk, a staple in Ghesquière’s repertoire since its introduction in the Cruise 2023 collection, was prominently featured throughout the runway lineup. This versatile piece was showcased in both PM and MM sizes, along with the new Slim Trunk iteration, which boasts a streamlined east-west silhouette. The Side Trunk was presented in various colorways, from timeless black with silver-tone hardware to delicate shades like baby pink and pastel yellow, alongside bolder options like brick red and tan. The classic monogram was not forgotten, making appearances in several iterations.
The Pre-Fall 2024 collection also saw the return of the GO-14, the Atlantis, and other iconic Louis Vuitton pieces. Each of these bags was reimagined in new colors, sizes, and materials, ensuring they remain as relevant and desirable as ever. The collection’s diverse range of styles, from the playful to the sophisticated, reflects the dual creative visions of Sun Yitian and Nicolas Ghesquière, making it a standout season for Louis Vuitton.
